Although it’s badged as a Nissan, the 3.0L V6 diesel is built by Renault, and it turns up under both brands — the Navara D40 and Pathfinder R51, and various Renault and Infiniti models. The job itself is methodical enough, but the V9X needs specialist timing tools to align the chain correctly, and at the time we could not source that tool anywhere in New Zealand.
We now have the full set of specialist tools required for this engine. That means the job gets done accurately and efficiently here, rather than being sent away or attempted without the right equipment — which on this engine is not a risk worth taking.
The 2.5L YD25 — The More Common One
