Audi Service and Repairs

Audi servicing in Auckland is a large part of our European work. We see the A4, S3 and S4 most, and we’ve looked after nearly the whole range — A1, A3, A4, A5, A6, Q2, Q3, Q5, Q7, and a few A8s as well.

Audi and Volkswagen Share More Than a Badge

Worth being upfront about, because it’s the most useful thing to know about servicing an Audi: they share engines, gearboxes, electrical architecture and platforms with Volkswagen. An Audi A3 and a VW Golf are much closer relatives than the price difference suggests.

That means the faults are the same too — coolant leaks from water pumps and thermostat housings, PCV faults on the TSI engines, carbon build-up on direct injection, early 1.4 TSI timing chains, 2.0 TDI oil leaks, DSG and Haldex issues. We’ve written them up in detail on our VW servicing page rather than repeat them here.

It also means Volkswagen is the biggest share of our European work, and that experience transfers directly. When your Audi comes in, it’s going to technicians who work on its engine and gearbox every week.

If you drive one, you’ll know a European car feels different from behind the wheel — and that’s exactly why people worry about servicing outside the dealership. We drive them ourselves, so we understand the hesitation. What settles it is documentation: provided the work meets manufacturer specification and is properly recorded, your factory warranty is unaffected, and your rights around parts and workmanship are covered by the Consumer Guarantees Act.

S3 and S4

We see a lot of S models, and they bring a different kind of owner — someone who knows their car and notices when it isn’t right. They also carry higher-specification components throughout: larger brakes, performance tyres, more heavily stressed drivetrains.

That makes parts quality matter more, not less. A budget brake component on an S4 is a false economy, and we’ll tell you where genuine is worth the difference and where a quality aftermarket part is the smarter call.

The Larger Audis

The A6, A8 and Q7 are more involved to work on. They’re larger, more heavily equipped and more electronically complex, and jobs on them take longer than the equivalent on an A3 or A4.

We can do the work, and we’ve done a fair amount of it. We’ll just be honest about the time involved at the start, rather than quoting as if it were a smaller car.

S tronic and quattro

Audi’s S tronic is a dual-clutch gearbox, the same family as Volkswagen’s DSG, and it has the same needs. It is often treated as sealed for life and it isn’t — fluid and filter servicing at sensible intervals makes a substantial difference to its life. More on DSG and dual-clutch servicing.

On quattro models built on the transverse platforms, like the A3, S3 and Q3, all-wheel drive runs through a Haldex coupling that needs its own fluid service. It’s frequently missed, and most of the Haldex problems we see come back to exactly that.

Diagnostics

We run VCDS alongside Launch, Autel, Snap-on and Smartsafe. VCDS is the VAG-specific platform, and it gives proper access to Audi systems rather than the generic data any code reader can see.

Coding and programming

Some coding work we handle ourselves, and some we put through a programming specialist we work with. Which way a job goes depends on the vehicle and what’s being asked for, and it’s not something we can answer accurately over the counter without knowing the detail.

Tell us what you’re after and we’ll find out before you commit to anything. Either way it gets done — you don’t need to go looking for someone else.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Audi servicing cost?

It depends on the model, the oil it takes and what the service includes. Give us your registration and we’ll give you an exact figure rather than a starting price that changes later.

Does my S tronic gearbox need servicing?

Yes. It’s often described as sealed for life and it isn’t. Regular fluid and filter servicing makes a real difference to its lifespan.

Can you work on an A8 or Q7?

Yes. They take longer than the smaller models and we’ll be upfront about that when we quote.

Do you work on the S models?

Yes — the S3 and S4 are among the Audis we see most.

Will servicing outside Audi affect my warranty?

No. Provided the service meets the manufacturer’s specifications and is documented properly, your factory warranty is unaffected. Your rights are also covered by the Consumer Guarantees Act.
