Motorhome servicing in Auckland falls into an awkward gap. Habitation specialists look after the living end and often won’t touch the mechanicals. General workshops can’t fit the vehicle through the door. Truck shops aren’t interested unless it’s on a truck chassis.
We service the mechanical side properly, at our Henderson workshop, where we have the space and the height to take the vehicle.
What our motorhome servicing covers, and what it doesn’t
We look after everything mechanical: servicing, cambelts, brakes, suspension, steering, cooling systems, diagnostics, electrical faults and warrant of fitness inspections.
We do not do habitation work. No interior repairs, no gas certification, no water systems, no fridges, no solar or house batteries. That isn’t us being modest — habitation setups vary enormously between builders, the parts supply is its own world, and doing it properly takes experience we don’t have. You want a habitation specialist for that side, and we’d rather say so than learn on your vehicle.
What we can take
- Up to 8.5 metres. Beyond that it won’t work in our workshop.
- Henderson only. Avondale doesn’t have the space or the access.
- Not truck-chassis vehicles. If it’s on a dual-wheel rear axle and in the heavier weight classes, that’s a truck and we’re not a truck shop. We’ll tell you straight away rather than waste your time.

Fiat Ducato cambelts
The Ducato underpins a large share of New Zealand’s motorhome fleet, and we have the tooling to do the cambelt properly.
We do the job complete rather than belt-only: new belt, tensioner and idler, oil seals, water pump, and fresh coolant. Doing half of it means going back in later and paying the labour twice.
$2,400 including parts, labour and GST, with a two-day turnaround.
Worth knowing if you own one: cambelt intervals have a time component as well as a distance one, and motorhomes almost always hit the time limit first. A vehicle that does a few thousand kilometres a year and sits for the rest of it is still ageing its belt. Kilometres on the clock are the wrong thing to judge it by.
Warrant of fitness
We carry out warrant of fitness inspections on motorhomes at Henderson, to the NZTA requirements. Motorhome WOFs are charged at $120, reflecting the extra time they take. If we’re doing the WOF alongside a service, that drops to $85.
Booked alongside a service it becomes more economical. The vehicle is already on stands with all four wheels off, so a full brake inspection happens as part of the job rather than as separate work.
Why a vehicle that sits still needs a different eye
Most of what goes wrong with a motorhome comes from what happens between trips rather than during them.
- Belts and hoses age by calendar, not by use. Rubber perishes sitting in a driveway.
- Tyres do the same. A motorhome tyre usually times out long before it wears out, and flat-spotting from months parked in one position is common.
- Brakes seize. Discs corrode, calipers stick, handbrake cables bind — all from standing.
- Batteries discharge. The vehicle battery, not the house battery, and it’s the one that strands you before you’ve left home.
- Fluids degrade regardless. Coolant and brake fluid have service lives that run whether the vehicle moves or not.
Servicing to the odometer misses all of it. We service to how the vehicle actually lives.

That matters more than it sounds — it’s the difference between a workshop that’ll take the booking and one that understands you’re planning a trip around this, that the vehicle is a holiday as much as a vehicle, and that being told something the week before you leave is worth a great deal more than being told it afterwards.

Will my motorhome fit?
Up to 8.5 metres, at Henderson. If you’re unsure, give us the length and the chassis it’s built on and we’ll tell you before you drive over.
Can you do habitation repairs while it’s in?
No. We do mechanical work only. We’re happy to point you toward people who do the habitation side.
My motorhome does hardly any kilometres. Does it still need servicing?
Yes, and arguably more attention than a vehicle in daily use. Belts, hoses, tyres, fluids and brakes all deteriorate with time rather than distance.
How long will you need it for?
A service is a day. A Ducato cambelt is two days. We’ll give you a firm answer when you book so you can plan around it.
Can you check it over before a long trip?
Yes, and it’s worth booking that a few weeks out rather than a few days. It gives you time to get anything we find sorted before you go.
